Hard at work in his slippers

He was sharpening a blade.  A massive blade.  Done sort of machete.  And he was sitting there in his slippers!  I was absolutely fascinated by his absorption in his job with no thought of health and safety.

So I engaged him in conversation and sketched him as we chatted.  I say chatted.  But he spoke Spanish or Galician I wouldn’t know the difference and he had no idea what I was talking about.  And so for a few moments we were connected.  And now here he is in paint.  Hard at work in his slippers.
